The Epoch of the Hashtag
The metadata tags go back all the way to 1988 on a platform known as Internet Relay Chat or IRC. That pound (#) symbol was actually being used to group messages, images, and other content on the IRC.
Jump to 2003 where you have Chris Messina, a social technology expert, who asked his following how they would feel about using the pound sign to keep track of conversations on Twitter.

How to Become a LinkedIn Superstar
LinkedIn has received a pretty bad rap over the past few years. The number of users signing in to their profiles dropped significantly, which is something Microsoft is trying to address after their $26.2 billion acquisition of the giant B2B social platform.

LinkedIn Finally Added a Video Feature
I can barely contain my excitement. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had great videos to share with my LinkedIn network, but haven’t been able to post them until today!
That’s because LinkedIn just released its newest update by allowing users to directly upload video to their newsfeed. So, if there’s a surplus of exclamation marks on this blog, just know that I’ve been waiting for this for a while now.

Social Media Management For Event Planning
Simply put, social media is powerful because it brings people together. It’s like a party that never ends. And its social media that has completely changed the way people come together in the “real world”. Arab Spring back in 2010 illustrated the power of this online forum by revolutionizing revolution. The ALS water bucket challenge in 2014 spread like wildfire, leading to over $115 million donation dollars. Even Haiti was bombarded with millions of donations after they were hit with a 7.0 magnitude earthquake due to the virality social media can create. These events are obviously extreme in nature, but they prove my point, that social media can be a powerful tool to bring people together.

Study Affirms That Social Media Use Leads to Depression
3 min read
Just recently, a scientific study claimed that there’s a linear association between the number of social media platforms young people use and whether or not they show symptoms of anxiety and depression.
The journal, Computers and Human Behavior, points out that they surveyed nearly two thousand young adults using the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System. The study revealed something that I think most would assume.

I received a call yesterday of a man who was responding to a proposal that I had sent to him a week ago. The call came from the owner of a small firm doing business here in Atlanta and the conversation started off great. My original thought was he would ask me “where to sign”!

Rugby Hacks Social Media
5 min read
I was sitting in a Sports Clips just the other day and, as usual, I was waiting there in the sitting room for 5 hours. While contemplating whether or not to endure another day looking like I had a mop on my head, I looked up and saw ESPN featuring the USA vs Canada rugby match. It’s kind of a proud moment when rugby gets national exposure like that. Although NBC has been airing rugby matches ever since 2009 in the US, ESPN has marginalized the sport behind basketball, baseball, and football.

Not on Snapchat? After This New Update, You Should Be.

Snapchat just released a new update that allows for users to open up what they are calling a “Snap Map”.
This new feature is going to be huge for local businesses for a host of different reasons. Number one being that users can now look up stories by location. This means that if your company is streaming stories, a potential client of yours that’s nearby can open up their snap map and tune in.

Why your marketing company's social media presence counts
As an avid technology enthusiast, I am always looking up new and exciting technologies that may be instrumental in our clients future marketing campaigns.
One such technology asked for Marketing Eye's competitors, and did an analysis on where they sit from a digital perspective compared to Marketing Eye Atlanta. It was fascinating. Our company is a mere 4 years old in the US, and in year one, we realized that we outperformed all our competitors on Google listings/rankings and all areas of social media. It was something we were very proud of, as we don't spend all day pushing this medium, but a bit over 30 minutes in total including writing this blog.
