Constant relentless improvement is always necessary. It is part of Marketing Eye's mandate. When Nina De La Cruz came to me in December with this newish technology platform that showcases viewing a business card and having an individual present what they do at the same time through a popup video, I was suitably impressed.

What a great start to the year! Our team that is totally pumped and excited about what the future holds for the company, and I have just come back from a few days looking into the operations of the Vanad Group in the Netherlands.

It's amazing what some companies can do in 10 short years, but more importantly, how they empower their people to produce outstanding results year-on-year, completely on-track to the company's overall mission.

In agency land, it's getting very competitive. Not for clients, but to find the right staff with enough knowledge to be able to do the job.

A prospect asked me today about the profiles of some of our team. He thought that a few were a bit light on. What he didn't realize was that there is a huge, gigantic gap between skilled marketers and those with the paperwork.

I remember finding this infographic, back in 2009, during my inter-web travels. It stated that if I were to print The Internet out on paper, it would take 57,000 years to read, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At a rate of 10 minutes of reading per night, I would require 8,219,088 years.

The countdown to Christmas is on and while we are all still enjoying the Spring Racing Carnival, there are a few large retailers who have already put together their Christmas displays and have started their Christmas marketing campaigns.

So what should you do? Do you start early because they have, or do you wait until it is closer to Christmas?

I have put together a reatil marketing "TO DO" list to help you decide what actions to take.

1. Connect with customers early

In today’s marketing world, there are so many ways to connect with your customers, and when it comes to marketing at Christmas time, the earlier, the better. Especially when it comes to those big ticket items that require some research.

Start sending incentives and loyalty packages out in October, to lure customers to your store over your competitors. Make sure your customers know all about the latest products, and give them reason to purchase early to ensure that they don’t miss out.

Is anyone else as excited as I am about how much Atlanta is becoming a major city not just because we are home to fortune 500 companies, but also due to the fact that we are now a major innovation hub?

I am literally jumping out of my boots and my team is going crazy with ideas, innovation and creativity with absolutely no sense of boundaries - and I love it!

As the world continues to change dramatically, marketing is a career that is becoming increasingly difficult to keep on top of.

As a company, we are invested in training and developing our people to ensure that they don't lag behind with a majority of marketers today. This is further endorsed by the fact that in comparison to the US, the update of marketing automation in Australia has been dissimal. It's darn-right embarrassing that marketers or whoever is holding the budget have not yet adopted marketing automation as a way in which to feed the sales funnel and give sales people hot leads rather than cold ones.

Outsourcing your marketing has advantages and disadvanges.

The poison that one person can throw on a company is insurmountable, all made by humans of course in the form of the internet. Yet, we all breathe faith into common sense as a whole and how one complainer, may in fact be the only.

Back in my fathers generation, one bad egg would not have crippled a business, though in these times it would. And so how the world has changed.

The world keeps changing. I use to hate change but as a marketer I have learned to love it. Move my seat one day to another, I am all ready to get up and look at the new perspective that is put in front of me.

I use to love a PC but my team wanted Mac's because they were sexier, so I reluctantly changed last. Now, I have no idea how to use a PC and my Mac is joined at my hip.

There is so much to love about being headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

The peaches, the honey, the friendliness, the cost of living and the people. Not so much the Grits but I think that's an acquired taste a bit like vegemite.

With so many Fortune 500 companies headquartered here; The Home Depot, UPS, The Coca-Cola Company, Delta Airlines, Aflac, The Southern Company, Genuine Parts Company, First Delta Corporation, AGCO, Rock Ten Company, Sun Trust Banks, HD Supply Holdings and I could really go on and on - but I think you get the picture.

For the past 3 weeks I have been quite sick and this has made it quite incredibly hard to be able to work at a pace that is acceptable in my business. Fortunately for me, the team has been running seamlessly and have continued to grow and prosper.

Due to our inherent need for a number of new positions to be filled due to our high growth company, we have to be very careful what clients we take on for now and the future.
